Dental Services
Quite often pet’s oral health problems go unseen for many reasons. Most people are unaware that oral health can actually affect more than just the mouth. Bacteria in the mouth can affect the heart, lungs, liver and kidneys. An oral exam is performed during annual vaccines to help prevent and possibly treat any oral health problems. It is a proven fact that over 85% of cats and dogs over the age of 2 have some form of periodontal disease. Some indications of oral health problems include: bad breath, loose or missing teeth and some cases due to pain a pet may stop eating. Preventing and treating early is the key to a long and healthy life.
The Tottenham Animal Clinic is dedicated to offering a wide range of dental services from prescription diets, water additives to full dental cleanings performed under general anesthetic. We even offer dental x-rays using our new state of the art digital x-ray machine that allows us to take quick and accurate x-rays to help provide the best dental care for your pet. During a dentistry the pet is anesthetised so the mouth can be better examined and cleaned. While the animal is anesthetised tartar and calculus is removed above and below the gum line. The teeth are scaled to remove any excess and then polished. Extractions are sometimes needed and can be done at the same time. Extensive dental procedures are available if needed. We strive to provide the best dental care and overall health available to your pet.
